چکیده

Introduction Predicting fluid responsiveness is of paramount importance to avoid unnecessary fluid administration in ARDS patients, since a positive fluid balance is associated with ARDS mortality [1]. Several tests with high reliability to predict fluid responsiveness are now available, but none have been validated in the prone position (PP) in ARDS patients, while this treatment is now a cornerstone of the therapeutic armamentarium of severe ARDS [2].

Change in cardiac output during Trendelenburg maneuver is a reliable predictor of fluid responsiveness in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome in the prone position under protective ventilation

BACKGROUND Predicting fluid responsiveness may help to avoid unnecessary fluid administration during acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). The aim of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic performance of the following methods to predict fluid responsiveness in ARDS patients under protective ventilation in the prone position: cardiac index variation during a Trendelenburg maneuver, card...

Prone Position Effects in the Treatment of Covid-19 Patients

Prone positioning is a conventional method to enhance oxygenation in Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) patients who need mechanical ventilator . It is proven that oxygenation is significantly more beneficial in prone position compared to the supine position. Furthermore, numerous evidences have confirmed that prone positioning could prevent lung injuries caused by ventilators

Validation of pulse pressure variation and corrected flow time as predictors of fluid responsiveness in patients in the prone position.

BACKGROUND The aim of this prospective trial was to investigate the ability of pulse pressure variation (PPV) and corrected flow time (FTc) to predict fluid responsiveness in the prone position. METHODS Forty-four patients undergoing lumbar spine surgery in the prone position on a Wilson frame were prospectively studied. PPV and FTc were measured before and after a colloid bolus (6 ml kg(-1))...

The prone position in ARDS patients. A clinical study.

The gas exchange and hemodynamics were evaluated before, during, and after a two-hour period of prone position in 13 moderate-severe ARDS patients. Lung computerized tomography was obtained in both the supine and prone positions in two of these patients. Average arterial oxygenation improved after prone positioning (p less than 0.01). A PaO2 improvement of at least 10 mm Hg after 30 minutes of ...

Short-term effects of combining upright and prone positions in patients with ARDS: a prospective randomized study

INTRODUCTION Prone position is known to improve oxygenation in patients with acute lung injury (ALI) and the acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Supine upright (semirecumbent) position also exerts beneficial effects on gas exchange in this group of patients. We evaluated the effect of combining upright and prone position on oxygenation and respiratory mechanics in patients with ALI or A...
